PRL(Preferred Roaming List) PAGE

Your phone's Preferred Roaming List, or PRL is important because it is helpful in knowing which carrier you are roaming with in determining how your phone will behave in certain geographic areas. This page gathers what we know about PRL's and how they can help you. PRL's are a feature of CDMA carriers. A similar function with GSM carriers is the MNC (Mobile Network Code). Additional general PRL information, including SID's, can be found below. PRL's are arranged by carrier. Only recent PRL's are shown here. Links are either to an "interpretation" of a PRL, or the found changes.

NEWS NOTES:
  • Since February 18, 2008, carriers have been permitted to discontinue analog service. Not all carriers will shut down analog, but they could delete analog channels from their PRL's. You might want to consider this before you download a current PRL which may remove analog roaming partners, Get more information at: Analog PRL's, Will Your Phone Die?
  • Verizon Wireless, and possibly some other CDMA carriers, now have the capability to force a new PRL to your phone without your knowledge. This "push" is being done on a routine basis to users who make account changes or have specific phone models. We expect this to eventually be done on a regular basis and users will no longer be able to "choose" a specific PRL. Any "hacks" to prevent this will also prevent legitimate downloads and are not recommended. Also see Verizon is Pushing More PRL's.

ADDITIONAL PRL INFORMATION:

2.
The List of SID's (System IDentification numbers)

3. HOW DO WE DETERMINE WHAT'S IN A PRL? There are several methods. Many users extract the information from their phones and compare the information with the FCC database. Another method is to compare the experience of people knowing what their PRL version is by looking at their phone's "version" screen, and then posting which network they are using while roaming. It is from these reports we can post the following information. Actual PRL texts are copies from other web sites not related to any wireless carrier, so information is not guaranteed.
America's Choice is a trade mark of Verizon Wireless.

4. The actual binary .prl files can be found here.

*We strongly advise you to research a PRL before you download a new one "Over The Air". Some have bugs that eventually get fixed, but you don't need to be the beta tester.
